Newsletter Archive: November 2016

Welcome to our newly designed monthly North Devon Sunrise (NDS) newsletter. As well as sharing NDS news, we would love to include your voice in this too. Please let us know what is going on across our community from a diverse and inclusive perspective – events, news, issues, recipes – that you’d like to spread far and wide. As ever, our mission is to celebrate human difference and promote human dignity and equality; to enjoy and learn from different individuals and groups’ experiences. So send in any contributions that you’d like to share with us that promote this message.

In the here and now, there’s a lot going on at NDS as we move towards the close of year. We have just started a community voice project, to understand how people from diverse backgrounds find living in Northern Devon. We would love to hear from you if you’re interested in getting involved in this – it basically involves chatting to us over tea and cakes! Our Christmas party is going to be on December 14th from 5.30-7.30pm (venue TBC) so put the date down in your diary – it would be great to see you there! Onto our ESOL services – we’re developing a new curriculum, so students can improve faster, and measure their progress. We now have two different levels of classes running each Monday and Wednesday for both beginners and intermediates/advanced. Have a look on our website for more details. Our ESOL teachers are working with the refugee children housed temporarily in North Devon. We are collecting resources for them and would be very grateful for any donations of books, art and writing materials, games and indoor activities that they can use now that the weather is closing in. You can drop things off to our NDS offices on Monday to Wednesday, 10 – 4pm’

Lastly, thank you for your support – please share this newsletter with anyone you think would enjoy it or want to hear about our services and activities. We hope that life flows smoothly, and we see you at NDS soon.

With all good wishes from Naomi and the Sunrise team
