Fan Popo Q&A
7pm – 8pm

Documentary filmmaker and LGBTQIA+ activist Fan Popo widely known for his films that focus on LGBTQIA+ issues in China, joins this years’ online Pride and Diversity Festival to answer your questions. His 2012 documentary ‘Mama Rainbow’ follows six mothers spending time with their adult gay and lesbian children. The film explores shifting attitudes towards LGBT+ people and received high viewing ratings on China’s domestic video sites. But, in 2014 it disappeared from Chinese streaming sites. What followed was an internationally reported lawsuit that exposed censorship and the struggles facing the LGBTQIA+ Community in China.

‘Mama Rainbow’ is still unavailable to stream in China. But you can watch it right here. Then put your questions to Fan by emailing diversity@northdevonsunrise.org and of course don’t forget to tune in to find out what he’s got to say. You won’t want to miss this!
