You don’t need to know how to write or read English.

Learn to  talk, listen, write and/or read on our free English Classes. There are people from different levels.

Qualified, experienced and friendly English teachers and volunteers will help you to learn and improve your English skills.

Our English (ESOL) activities are for all ages and abilities and will help you to develop your skills and confidence in using the English language on a daily basis.


Free English classes

During Covid-19 our English classes have been moved on an online platform to find out more and how to join, please go to the Online Activities page.

We provide free, weekly English classes for both beginners and advanced levels, following a clear, structured syllabus to help you to progress quickly in speaking, writing, reading and understanding English.

Our free English classes are held at the following times at our North Devon Sunrise offices:

  • Monday class – 1pm-3pm (mixed ability)
  • Tuesday class – 6pm-8pm (mixed ability)

1-to-1 English Conversation Club

During Covid-19 our Conversation Club has been moved on an online platform to find out more and how to join, please go to the Online Activities page.

We can match you up with a friendly English-speaking person so you can practice and build up your confidence in speaking English. Sessions can be arranged on a weekly basis, or when you like.


Activity Mornings

Come and meet different people, and practice speaking English in a friendly, welcoming and inclusive community group.

Enjoy different activities including arts and crafts, cooking, yoga, wellbeing and family outings.
